Alexi Singh Grewal, aged 56, was born to an Indian family in Aspen, Colorado on September 8, 1960. A former cyclist, he became the first American to win an Olympic gold medal in road cycling in the 1984 Summer Olympics. It was after this win that he turned pro and signed with the Panasonic Team. Later on, he joined the 7-Eleven Cycling Team and was the captain of the team in 1986.
Grewal, who was elected to the Bicycling Hall of Fame in 2004, has two brothers, Rishi and Ranjeet. He says he wants to build rehab cycles for kids.
